Based on the precept of pray once and thank many, enjoy the benefits of the Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17 NLT).
★ Strengthen yourself in the Lord and believe in God’s mighty power (v. 10).
★ Put on God’s whole armor so you’ll have the confidence to stand firm against the strategies of the devil (v. 11).
★ Focus on your fight against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, mighty powers in this dark world, and evil spirits in the heavenly places (v. 12).
★ Resist the enemy in the time of evil by putting on every piece of God’s armor (v. 13).
★ Stand your ground by putting on the Belt of Truth based on our living God who never changes (v. 14a).
★ Guard your heart with God’s body armor—the Breastplate of Righteousness (v. 14b).
★ Slip on the Shoes of Peace—the Good News, walking boldly and knowing the Lord’s peace exceeds all understanding and prepares you for action (v. 15).
★ Protect your soul (i.e., your mind, will, and emotions) with the Helmet of Salvation (v. 17a).
★ Wield the Sword of the Spirit with God’s Word, sharper than any double-edged sword, and available for recall at any time. (v. 17b).
By reciting verses in our prayers, the Lord equips us to live the righteousness of God in Christ!
For example:
I praise the Lord for surrounding me with the Belt of Truth—Jesus. Protecting my heart with the Breastplate of Righteousness. Furnishing the Shoes of Peace to eliminate anxiety. Deflecting the enemy’s fiery missiles with the Shield of Faith. Protecting my soul with the Helmet of Salvation. And I thank you, Father, for equipping me with the Sword of the Spirit—God’s Word—enabling me to defend my faith and to rightly divide matters.
How could adding praise for the Whole Armor of God change your prayer life?
