We never know how God blesses the works of our hands when we leave it in His capable hands.
— Billy Graham
It’s about God’s Will, Not Ours
Here’s an often-quoted line of scripture.
Be still, and know that I am God!
— Psalm 46:10a NLT
Now consider the complete verse.
Be still, and know that I am God!
I will be honored by every nation.
I will be honored throughout the world.— Psalm 46:10a NLT
It’s obvious that God controls the ultimate outcome, but too often, we don’t leave matters in His capable hands.
God Prepares Us to Receive His Blessings
Here are just a handful of the many ways God prepares us to receive His blessings over our works.
- Steadiness: “He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along.” (Psalm 40:2 NLT)
- Awareness: “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in your instructions.” (Psalm 119:18 NLT)
- Thoughts: We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NIV)
- Strength: “But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31 NLT)
- Protection: “But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (Isaiah 54:17 NLT)
Absolute Trust, Now and Forever
Reflect on how God blesses the works of our hands when we leave it in His capable hands.
Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.
— Colossians 3:23-24 NLT
