Social Media Victims Remembrance Day June 23, 2026

From my point of view, social media and artificial intelligence are evil twins.

Evidence piles up that both do irreparable harm, especially to the most vulnerable in society.

If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. — Matthew 18:6 NIV

  1. Shocking. Thanks for the wealth of information. The titles alone of the articles listed in your link give pause.

    1. There were many more articles, some too graphic to post the links. Too many people remain unaware of the issues or think it does apply to them. Posting and commenting can help raise awareness and the need for change.

  2. There are so many. Cyberbullying is horrid.

    1. Yes, and from what I’ve seen, those responsible for guarding children are woefully ignorant or naive.

  3. I hadn’t heard of SMVRD. It’s great that such an effort exists but is devastating that we need it. Thanks for sharing this.

    1. The people who created Social Media Victims Remembrance Day have put a face to the actual harm caused by social media. I urge parents to keep in mind that AI has infiltrated the apps in and leading to social media. The list on SMVRD does not include AI victims. To be clear, SMVRD does not show victims of AI fraud, malware, blackmail, and more, including children and adults who ultimately committed suicide.
