      It’s so much worse than most realize, Dana. If each of us took a moment and shared the information, especially with parents, that newfound awareness could make a significant difference.

    I had no idea there was such a thing as SMVRD. All those young lives lost! In scrolling the site, I couldn’t help noticing the ages of the victims. In the “old days” young people often had obstacles to overcome with their peers, but they could retreat to a safe haven in their homes. Now with cyber bullying, there is no safe haven. 24/7, they can’t escape what others are saying about them if they open themselves to looking online.

      Sad, indeed. Awareness can help, Wrenn. I hope more schools and churches will help parents become aware of the threats, including the apps that contribute to the bullying.

      The people who created Social Media Victims Remembrance Day have put a face to the actual harm caused by social media. I urge parents to keep in mind that AI has infiltrated the apps in and leading to social media. The list on SMVRD does not include AI victims. To be clear, SMVRD does not show victims of AI fraud, malware, blackmail, and more, including children and adults who ultimately committed suicide.

      Yes, and from what I’ve seen, those responsible for guarding children are woefully ignorant or naive.
